On behalf of Kaizer Chiefs, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has intervened in the saga involving Amakhosi and Wydad Casablanca regarding the Champions League clash, and the match has been postponed.Amakhosi\u2019s travel to Morocco was delayed as the Royal Morocco Football Federation denied Chiefs an entry into the country due to the coronavirus pandemic as they sent a letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Coach Gavin Hunt\u2019s troops were slated to face Wydad in their opening group stage match on Saturday evening (21:00 SA time) in Casablanca, and the country’s football entity has since provided an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Confederation of African Football (CAF) have confirmed that the CAF Champions League match between Wydad Athletic Club from Casablanca in Morocco versus Kaizer Chiefs, will not be played as scheduled on Saturday, 13 February 2021,\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
read a statement from SAFA.\u201cIn a one-liner correspondence sent to SAFA last night, CAF through its Competition Division manager, Ahmed Salem said CAF will communicate the updated decision in due time.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cChiefs were scheduled to have left for Casablanca on Wednesday evening but the team was denied entry visas to Morocco, forcing them to cancel the trip to North Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the Naturena-based side has also confirmed the delay, saying they have fulfilled all the necessary arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the Glamour Boys will find relief in the fact that they incurred travelling costs, but they have not forfeited what was meant to be their first-ever match in the premier continental tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
