
As of Thursday the total number of Covid-19 cases in the North West Province stands at 2618 as reported by the National Health Minister.
Schools in the North West have not been spared, as Covid-19 cases increase. The North West Education department has reported a total number of 62 cases, with an increase of 30 new cases. The department reported new cases comprises of 21 teachers, 6 learners, a deputy principal and one non-teaching staff.
“I would like to indicate that all our schools have been attached to local clinics. Whenever there is a case at our schools, principals have been trained to isolate that individual to an isolation room. Then they call nurses to attend to attend to the isolated person. Again as a department we wish all people infected and affected by this virus strength and recovery”, said MEC Matsemela.
The Education department has shut down 14 schools with Covid-19 related cases in the province and they will reopen after they have been disinfected and decontaminated in accordance to the Department of Health recommendations.
