
Over 5 million learners are expected back at school on 6 July. As the government continues with the second phasing of pupils at schools. 775 South African schools have reported Covid-19 related cases since the reopening of schools in the 8 June 2020.
The Department of Education on Saturday reported that 523 learners and 1690 teachers have contracted Covid-19. This figures have raised concerns amongst parents regarding the safety of their children as COVID-19 cases rise. The department has assured parents and public that stringent Covid-19 protocol will be followed to ensure safety of learners and teachers.
South Africa’s Coronavirus cases now at 131 800 confirmed cases, with 2 413 confirmed deaths. The country has recorded the highest number of cases ever in 24 hours at 7 214 confirmed Covid-19 cases.
