The Economic Freedom Fighters on Tuesday have made a call to the President of the Republic Cyril Ramaphosa to revert the country back to lockdown level 5 as Covid-19 cases worsen. As of the 30 June South Africa’s Coronavirus cases have surpassed 150 000 mark, with 2 657 deaths reported.
” the fact is that as things stand, both Private and Public healthcare systems will not be able to cater for the rising numbers of positive Covid-19 cases. As result thousands of people will die simply because they cannot get access to healthcare” EFF said.
The Economic Freedom Fighters have suggested that the country be put under lockdown for three months with following recommendations:
1. The country must unite in a planned supply of food, electricity, water and sanitation for all.
2. Food prices must be controlled through regulations
3. All financial institutions should be forced through regulation to give interest-free holiday payments for three month for non-essential workers and businesses.
4. All basic and higher education learning and teaching must be conducted online through the public broadcaster.
5. Internet and broadcasting service prices must be regulated and reduced
